Schedule change on a mistake fare causing a misconnect. What to do?
I'm finding myself in a bizarre situation and this seemed like the best place to ask the question since it pertains to a mileage run I'm taking next month.
I booked a JFK-ATH-IST-JFK mistake fare back in April. Since then, Delta suspended their IST-JFK service and now my itinerary reads JFK-ATH-IST:AMS-JFK. There is not enough time to go from IST to AMS to make my final leg. All legs are on Delta except ATH-IST on Aegean, but all the segments are on Aegean stock.
I booked this with an OTA (Exploretrip) and I've been trying for 2 months to get them to fix my itinerary. They are unhelpful and deliberately useless. Delta and Aegean refuse to touch the itinerary since it's a "consolidated ticket." I'm not clear on what that means.
My ongoing frustration with Exploretrip has gotten so unbearable that I'm wondering what would happen if I just traveled with that misconnect in my itinerary. Would an agent in Athens (Aegean or Delta) be able to re-book me or is there some looming restriction on this fare that I don't know about?
TIA for any insight.
