"totally reasonable" in the eye of the beholder. I can't fathom transiting either LAX or SFO to get to the other, given how delay prone both airports are. Plus at best you're adding over an hour, and probably more if you want a reasonable connection time.

+1. Of course it all depends on context. On a vacation TPAC I might change my routing to get on a 747, say, but if I'm flying TCONs monthly I don't need them to take any longer than they already do.
