Panviman Koh Chang

As the rest of the family had been touring Cambodia, a family beach holiday was planned on Ko Chang.

Unfortunately for flyertalk members, no points & miles options on Ko Chang.

So we booked one of the smaller boutique hotels, which proved to be the right decision.

I was booked into a sea view jacuzzi room, which was very spacious. Rooms and bath rooms were very clean, although the decoration may becoming a bit dated. But, after all, they are going for the traditional thai style.

Bathroom was trying to look like an outside bathroom, however was covered by a plastic ceiling, which made for some sunny showers in the morning.

The rooms were scattered through the gardens which were very well kept, with some having direct pool access.

The hotel has only one restaurant on its grounds, which was very good for breakfast, however the other meals (lunch, dinner) were very basic.

On my birthday, we did however have the set 7 course dinner on the beach (which they organize privately for you), were they did manage to provide fine dining. So if they want, they can do it. They should offer this kind of food always on the menu in the normal restaurant.

The hotel owns another restaurant on the main road (2km from the hotel), which doesn’t offer fine dining, but does offer fantastic and authentic thai food for thai prices (so cheap as hell).

Finally the hotel also offered a spa, which might look very basic but offers high quality services in an open air pavilion on the beach (so I had a daily massage).

Days were spent on the beach and around the pool, enjoying the daily happy hour in the evening (2 cocktails for the price of 1, and they already were dirt cheap to begin with).

Some very nice touches, candy at turn down every night. A dedicated beach/pool bag for every room to take all your stuff. And the staff who were incredible in trying to meet every wish and even baking a birthday cake for me .

Conclusion, very nice hotel for a secluded getaway, without a lot of people around (only 50 rooms). They just need to up their food offering during the day and at night.

I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the speaking.
