I'm GM about to hit PM, should actually be DM by the end of the year. My excitement about this is marred by the fact that the only two domestic flights I take often are JFK-SFO and JFK-LAX, which are both exempt from upgrades.

Does anyone have preferred alternate routes (e.g. non-direct flights, or alternate regionals as SJC / LGB+SAN+SNA / LGA are actually typically all fine for me) to maximize upgrade potential as a GM or once the RUCs are gone as a PM/DM?

Obviously there are significant tradeoffs between total travel time and also potentially being on crappy metal where a J/F upgrade doesn't mean much, hence I'm not asking what alternates are possible, but rather if anyone has ones where they personally find the cost-benefit actually nets out greater for them.
