Ok, I totally underestimated the time it takes to write one of these trip reports, so let’s try to finalize this.
I arrived at Bangkok airport with not that much time to spare for my flight to Trat.
I had already checked in online the day before, so only had to drop of my bags.
This flight wasn’t my best flight ever, because I was feeling quite ill (presumable from continuously getting in and out of air-conditioned spaces).
Went to their boutique lounge, which was nice to escape from the hustle and bustle of the airport. You can have some orange juice and popcorn in the lounge and make use of the free internet. Otherwise the lounge is nothing special.
Boarding was done by bus to the ATR which was quite full this flight, however after a family requesting me to change seats, I had a free seat next to me.
Flight departed on time, and on a flight this short they managed to pull of a meal service, which consisted of a kind of pastry filled with meat.
We arrived on time at Trat airport were we were transported to the terminal (smallest terminal I have ever flown in or out of) by the kind of cars you normally only see in Disney Land or another entertainment park.
Baggage reclaim was also quite a lot of fun, the luggage cart which transported all luggage from the plane backed into the open air terminal and airport staff handed your luggage directly out of the luggage cart.
Went out to find my driver I had reserved to take me to the hotel on Ko Chang.
The only way of getting to Ko Chang is via ferry. From the airport, you drive to the ferry pier, which takes about half an hour, from where you take the ferry which takes about 45 minutes. From the ferry pier in Ko Chang it was about 20 minutes to my hotel.
The ferry was an experience on itself, as the one I took probably dated back quite a few decades, below you find a picture of its sister ship.
Weather was not ideal to make the crossing, lots of wind, so being ill, I was very happy to arrive at my hotel.
