Glad you've got your responses.
The Hampton inn is great for flights with easyjet @north terminal as the checkin desk is maybe a minute away.

The only issue is that I dont get any gold benefit at the Hampton. The breakfast is free for everyone anyway and no free drink either .

I still sometimes book @the Hampton if I arrive on the late EK flight and have an easyjet flight early AM (Don't need food or drink in this case) and also don't have to switch terminals .

On the other hand if I reach LGW early PM and if my connection to EK is next morning then I prefer LGW Hilton in the south terminal (even though this means that I have to switch terminals)

Even as a lowly gold, I get a better breakfast (even on a room only rate) than the hampton and drinks voucher(not sure if they still give it) and almost a guaranteed room upgrade.

The only drawback is that its not great if flying with a lot of luggage ( usually I take the baggage trolley to the room at the Hampton ;-) )

I also prefer the dining option in the south terminal hotel/landside establishments compared to the one in the north terminal.
