I just tried booking an award om Emirates on the Qantas website but am getting the following error before the last screen:
When I go back to the search engine, the seats are gone from the system. This has now happened to two different flights. Were the seats not available in the first place (I've been checking for weeks and the seats have been showing in the calendar), or are they somehow held by Qantas but currently not bookable due to some error?
EDIT: I've tried making dummy bookings across a number of other flights and dates, and I'm getting the same error message regardless of the cabin. Assuming this must be a temporary error, or can I only book Emirates awards over the phone?
In theory you should be able to book EK flights on the QF website reward booking interface. Simply try again later.
That said, I have come across numerous examples of finding a seat on the initial calendar screen only for the booking to fail once that specific preferred date is selected.
If all else fails you'll have to ring QF and check availability.
(...to note for future reference on the off chance your route is DXB or MXP to USA, you can cross check availability using the Alaskan Airlines website. You can also check for an Asia to DXB sector on Alaskan as part of an Asia-USA multi-stop, but not get visibility of rewards on any of the Australia-DXB or Australia-AKL flights).
