if you can afford 75k points, then go for business.
if you can afford a "doable" economy ticket paid in cash, them buy economy and save the points.
The economy ticket for the direct flight is ~$1800 as of right now, which is more than I want to pay. So yes that is definitely worth 40k points. Especially when AA would want 65k, and that would require both a connection and flying an American airline!
