An update to this post.
I contacted the said hotel and explained that I had booked under husband name but he would no longer be accompanying me. Was informed a note would be put on the booking and assured this would not be a problem.
On arrival we were welcomed with an upgrade to a 2 bed penthouse suite and access to executive lounge. Oh and a nice bottle of wine and chocolates delivered to the room later that day.
Seems honesty is the best policy!
