I'm very impressed at the variety of bookings people have here but my first foray into a more complex flight combination is getting nowhere so I'm clearly missing something. I want to book Abz to Bgi in early April to visit daughter who lives there. Then she and I want to fly to New York for a few days and travel by train to Washington from where I come home to Scotland and she goes back to Barbados. A BA search says nothing available but if I do a starting London search it takes me from Barbados via London to New York rather than using the AA flights via Miami. Looking at booking with AA says nothing available from ABZ but from London only gives me option of getting to BGI via Miami - not the direct BA operated codeshare.

What I want is Abz to Lhr then Lgw to Bgi then Bgi to nyc via Miami and Washington to Lon to Abz . All in y I'm afraid to admit.

What am I doing wrong? Help appreciated.
