I have decided to pay off my Navient loan and was looking for a way to get some cash back from this transaction. I found a Reddit thread from earlier this year that talks about a way to pay off a loan with a credit card. Lets say you have a loan for $15,000 to make it easy. Basically call up customer service and change your payment terms to a much shorter payoff schedule. So instead of payments over 10 years you instruct them to have payments over say....3 months, after this is processed you will then have a balance due of ≈$5000 for the next 3 months. You then call in and make a payment with a credit card to cover the "amount due". There is some conflicting information on using the automated service vs talking to a rep to make this payment and when the fee is charged, but I think i will give this a try. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this?
