Same here, I put one on hold 2 weeks ago, let that one expire. Then last week I put a different one on hold and booked it.
Emails for both nearly immediately, and both showed up in my account online (including in the AA iPhone app).
One interesting note... When I do a hold, I don't have the option to customize the reservation name. So if I hold AUS-DFW-NRT, it will default to AUS/DFW. However when I go to pay/book it, then it does give me the option to change it to whatever I'd like.
The ticketing process seems to be a bit faster now too. When I first started with the AA system about 2 years ago (flew mostly US prior), it could take 4+ hours. Now it seems to be closer to an hour. I think my last was about 30 min.
