Why? I would have thought that all the status customers could book these seats much sooner than I but seems not the case.
Not sure about LH, but on LX exit rows don't seem to have much (or even any?) more legroom, and they have even less cushioning. It's a no-brainer to select a normal seat further forward if available since you'll be more comfortable, and get off faster.
