Agreed -but again - to use a "reductio ab absurdio" principle - my father then said "You are in a desert and have not had a drink for hours and you get offered a pint of cold water for 10 pounds (Sterling) , do you take it"

Extortion -yes
At that moment the price of water went up. - Now you could also argue that this is the
simple law of supply and demand (Occams razor?) . I make no further comment.
