I already wrote that all Chinese airlines have the same silly rule.
Also, if mobile phones being in "regular mode" would indeed be dangerous, we'd see (almost) every aircraft in the world crashing immediately. Because there will always be some people who forget to turn on flight mode. It's not like just Chinese airlines would have those problems (that don't exist) and all others would be immune against them..
If a rule is silly and useless, I'll call it exactly that way.
