If BA wanted to make extra money they could have imposed an optional fee for checking through baggage in cases of more than one PNR. Now the option to pay for it does not even exists.
I am also surprised that no exeption has been made for Gold/GGL EC members and people flying F.
This new policy will certainly be an important element in deciding to fly BA with checked baggage if more than one PNR is not avoidable.
This is a bugger as my mum and her friend wanted to through check their bags on the way back from Nantucket. This has always been possible before and indeed we've used it a few times over the years - but not now. I am flying F and like you are surprised that there isn't an exemption for F pax etc. I checked with You First and the nice lady who I spoke to said there was no way BA would take the luggage from Cape AIr direct. The plan was to then go into BOS for the day but obviously that's not going to happen as planned. Therefore I am looking into a day room at the Hilton or HYatt. Thanks BA!
