They're working on it. I made the same rant five years ago and well long story short I should have tried to dabble in hotel development. Aloft Sarasota just opened a few months ago and a Tribute is under construction a few blocks away. Kimpton was under serious negotiations but walked for a few random reasons like their acquisition (I'm pretty sure this deal is dead or at least I haven't heard anything in at least a year). I realize Sarasota isn't Naples but they have very strong similarities and while I don't think anything has been announced I know there are a few folks working on some SPG flags in Naples. it's safe to say that short of a
major recession happening beforehand something should be announced within the next twelve months in the Naples area. Sorry I can't help your immediate problem OP but you should have an option or two in 2019ish...
