How bad is Air China really?

I'm flying them in economy LHR-PEK-LHR in a few weeks for the first time, and have been reading a lot of comments about them, and freaking myself out so badly I think I'll be ecstatic if I'm not sitting in a dirty seat eating disgusting noodles.

I've ordered a special meal (vegetarian - I can't remember which kind) and will bring plenty of snacks and a full water bottle. I have an iPod loaded with podcasts and a few paperbacks, so if the IFE isn't interesting then I'll keep myself entertained. I have earplugs and an inflatable neck pillow. Any other tips?

I am hoping to get both of my carryon bags on board at LHR, because I'm going on to FNJ and if my bag doesn't reach PEK with me, I have no idea what will happen to it, since I doubt Air Koryo will bring it out to me... Neither is larger than regulation size and one will easily go under the seat. Any recent experience with their enforcement of the 1 bag, 5kg policy? On the way back, I don't mind checking the rolling bag.

Should I just stop reading random comments on the internet?
