Call 1-800-436-7927 and go through the automated prompts. You'll hear a robot lady give you a status update that will be either 7-10 days, 2 weeks, or 30 days. Most people say that if the automated phone line tells you 7-10 days it's generally a denial, 2 weeks is generally an approval after 3-7 days, and 30 days is often a need for verification and often an approval from there.
Obviously YMMV, but you might be able to get an idea. I have 3 new Chase cards in the past 6 months and they all fell within the exact scenarios as above.
