Regards having your bed made up, it's no great deal. You can easily do it yourself although you will have to ask for the bed cover,duvet and pillows from the Cabin Crew.
The bedding is behind your seat back, you don't need to ask the crew and you can make your bed up yourself at any time, although as said the crew will happily do it for you.

Do they have a USB port(s) as well that might be used for charging a phone? I've got a 12" MacBook and iPad so both can be powered from a USB port (I have all the right cables already). I know those may not recharge but just slowing the battery drain on that leg will be enough for me to help pass the time.
If your MacBook and iPad are relatively new and 'clean' then I find that on LHR-JFK you're unlikely to need the power if you're fully charged on boarding. The clubhouses have US and UK plug sockets throughout them to help.
