There are several holes in this story.
I don't know of anyone who is hired locally to work for TSA. All hirings are centrally controlled by TSA headquarters at Arlington, VA.
Promotions, on the other hand, can be done by the local FSD, and this sounds closer to the truth of what happened. The FSD probably acted unprofessionally when he promoted certain individuals. This, of course, will have to be investigated and proven.
I don't have all the facts, and neither do any of you. However, it appears to me that the former exotic dancer was most likely hired by NCS Pearson, the agency responsible for hiring the first batch of TSA screeners when the organization was created instead of the local FSD. What we don't know is if that particular screener showed the potential to be a supervisor or if the FSD simply promoted her because of her good looks or other unethical motive. Again, that's the FSD's problem not hers. What I find distasteful is the poking fun at the fact that she was an exotic dancer. Her prior employment should be of no concern IF she is able to do her job. She certainly had to list it in her application or else she would have been fired once it was discovered that she withheld information on her job application. At this point, she had to have successfully undergone a background security check if she was still on the payroll past Sep 30, 2003.
I think it's hypocritical that a some of you frequent flyers demand respect from TSA screeners yet stoop to giggling like school boys at recess or resorting to other cheap shots by taking such a condescending, holier-than-thou attitude about any line of work you find beneath your sense of worth. The focus needs to remain on an FSD whose ethical and professional standards are suspect. If due process proves this to be the case, then he should be terminated and held accountable for any criminal actions he may have conducted. Go to some adult web site if you want to fantasize about exotic dancers at a checkpoint.
Great post, Bart!
She could have been a exotic dancer when she was going through college or something else. It doesn't list how long she did it and why she did it. She could have needed money and did it for that reason.
She could have worked several security jobs before this one but of course the news isnt going to list that.
