Bumping this old thread! We are going to Croatia in August, 2 nights in Split, then enjoying the drive to Dubrovnik via Mostar, and two nights in Dubrovnik. We are doing an apartment in Split (it's a long vacation, we need the kitchen and washing machine!) and are now trying to decide where to stay in Dubrovnik. I'm thinking either the Hilton or out near the beaches. Would it be easier to stay at the Hilton and take a bus to the beach, or stay at one of the Valomar hotels for the beach access? The Valomars also include dinner, so if we don't feel like bussing back in to town we can eat out there.
