Depends on the airline... some require that non-uniformed nonrevs visibly wear their company IDs and sometimes even when they don't, it's often easy to tell by their extremely casual attitude with the FAs.
During my nonrev days I took pride in my discretion in premium cabins. My goal was to interact with my seatmates in a way that they had no idea I was an employee, and I succeeded 99% of the time.
