As a shareholder I was plat during 2014, got downgraded to gold june 2015 (new 2015 rules)
My objective as shareholder is to benefit of one level up versus my stays, being retired 60+ nights is out of reach.
I got upset by the downgrade to gold last year and stopped using Accor for some of my stays, I even cancelled 2x 7 nights bookings.
I did not pay much attention to the number of bookings over the last 12 months, not really thinking not having 30 nights (or 15000 points?) by the end of June 2016 would get me downgraded.
Thus conclusion now is whether I am shareholder or not I will need to spend at least 30 nights during 2016 to get back gold status.
I have 2 nights "deluxe' booked next week and will not get the upgrade to a suite. I might ask the reservation to pay for the difference.
I have 7 nights booked later this month and booked "executive suite" the highest type of room at that property (I was proactive for this one)
I have 2 more "standard" nights booked for august, thus no upgrade to expect, I definitely will check with the hotel to up my room by paying.
But I will seriously consider where to stay/book further 2016 rooms, I probably will reach or exceed 30 nights but hesitate Accor or not?, but keeping the shares is a no no, the chances I will stay at non Accor properties are getting high now. Zero incentive to be shareholder....
I make this clear: I still would have my gold status I would book 30+ nights this year, thus making being shareholder useless.
Checking my account I just see this:
You are just 18 nights in a participating hotel or 3 034 points from Gold status (by when???) Validity of your status:31/12/2017
Yes, I sulked Accor since my downgrade to gold, thus only had 12 nights over the last 12 months, I'll see what the 9 July nights will post for points (3035?).
Accor, you found a good method to alienate your shareholders
