Yes, it worked, but.....
Yesterday I landed in LHR on BA106 from DXB. I got to Hounslow and picked up my items and then went to DLH to get a package of Wedgewood China for my travelling companion's daughter's bridal shower today (July 2nd) near YYZ.
Baggage was all wrapped in plastic to form 2 "items of baggage" weighing at most 27 kg. As I was in CW on the BA 93 flight yesterday to YYZ, I thought all would be fine.
For some reason I carried the Wedgewood China as carry on along with my laptop.
On arrival, I discovered that the 2 items loaded at LHR never even were put on the aircraft. As I write this the July 2nd BA93 still does not hve my baggage. Unknown as to location.
I wonder if the 2 Brompton bicycles that I picked up in Hounslow will ever show up. Fortunately the Wedgewood stuff is here.
BUT, it was easy to check on extra baggage. Thank you all respondents for ensuring that this could be done. Now for BA to do their bit...
EDIT: It took a couple of days for BA to find and send the 2 items to YYZ. Then a courier had to transport them to a place over 100 km from YYZ. Oh well, they arrived safely and the courier continued making a living too ^
