I had a delay much like invisible describes. Flight went mechanical and spent most of a Sunday at MCI. My expenses were one meal, a few magazines and a paperback book. I would imagine routinely insuring against this kind of loss would cost far more than any likely loss. Even if you miss work, it is unlikely insurance to cover that loss would be cost effective.
