In the mornings (in particular) it will probably be quicker avoiding fast track security. You can now see the flow of passengers in normal track before the gates, so if you see (e.g.) groups of approx six people lining up to enter the tray area - there's usuallly 3 or 4 such groups - then you may as well go normal track, you'll be through in just a few minutes. That scenario boils down to 3 people between you and filling up your tray. Fast track can have 10 people in front of you.
