Swiss web-checkin woes

Trying to checkin for a (UA-ticketed) Swiss intra-europe flight followed by a UA TATL flight.

On the "checkin-details" page I'm getting an error telling me to select my travel authorisation, but that page only lets me fill in my passport data (and nothing about Visas):

Please select your type of travel authorisation for the U.S.
(Note again: there's nowhere for me to enter Visa details. I do have a valid ESTA, but they don't seem to be picking that up either.)

I guess this means I'll have to sort this mess out at the airport, and no advance seat selection (not such good news since I have a short connection). Does anyone know of any workarounds?

Interestingly editing my booking on lufthansa.com lets me actually enter US Visas/addresses, but that doesn't fix the Swiss checkin.

Moreover the Swiss checkin keeps mangling my names (removes spaces between middle names on the API page, despite me having entered it correctly yesterday, mangles my address by removing all spaces, etc).

Oh, and I'm allowed to select just the LX flight for checkin. That doesn't help, it still wants US authorisation when I'm checking in for an intra-europe flight...
