Wow, thanks everyone for the great replies and encouragement. Looking forward to the trip and hopefully a few plane rides will break the oldest boy's obsession with trains...and start the flying one.
Agree about the iPad...the 2 year old already is on it too often (that's a whole other issue) but I do think if I handed it to him he'd stay occupied. And assuming no change in EQP, the seatback TV's should help too.
Have also looked at the CARES restraint. I think it should help by keeping the oldest in the seat rather than the bulkiness of the car seat and one less thing to lug around.

Regardless though, traveling with a 1 year-old and 2.5 year-old is not a one-person job, have you considered how you're going to handle going to the lavatory?
You've clearly been thinking under my mindset about these two things.
First, I 'briefly' considered flying WN because of the nonstop. However the F fare on DL was cheaper than WN. I also weighed the following 1) service recovery - if the nonstop was delayed/xld/etc we'd end up on a connection anyways, 2) assigned seats rather than the cattle call/seat rodeo, 3) timing of the nonstop and traffic/eating/etc.
Secondly, on the lav issue, I did consider this. But either I'm going to have to creatively figure out a way to not use the lav or just hope the FA is in a good mood and can help me if I need to use it; I assume the former, but on my AA trip over Thanksgiving where we traveled together, the FA offered to hold our baby so that we could eat, so maybe there is some hope. I don't have that expectation though.
