BA vs Easyjet - some thoughts from recent trip

Having read a few posts recently about people trying Easyjet and how impressed they were I decided to do a comparison.

On a recent trip I booked the outbound in Club Europe and the return on Easyjet to see how good/bad one is over the other.

Some observations from each flight:

BA - outbound from LHR - row 3, Club Europe:

Two check-in agents hadn't heard of my destination even though BA started flying there in April. They eventually managed to find the flight after checking with me I was at the right airport and took my bag.
One 'fasttrack' lane open - 19 mins to get through.
Used Galleries North and didn't bother eating in the lounge. Had a glass of water and took a newspaper, used the toilet and left. Overcrowded and hot although in fairness the airport was also very busy at that time.
Pushed back on time, 25 mins from pushing to take off.
One crew member looking after cabin of 10 + 1 infant. Had apparently just been called in from standby and also hadn't heard of our destination!
Served kids meals last for some reason which meant they were all fractious and nobody could understand why she didn't serve them to settle them down.
Cabin felt cramped and frankly moody. Passenger sat next to me filled in a complaint and was very vocal about the food.
Drinks run before meal took forever and the food was so unappetising I didn't bother taking it.
Arrived pretty much on time - very little else to add.

Return - Easyjet - row 3, Economy

Checked in online and dropped bag off. One person ahead of me - check-in of bag took less than 3 mins.
Booked late but got a seat in row 3 - new plane with new slim seats. Hugely impressed as felt much more leg room than on BA - that may not be the case but perception of space was miles better.
Crew super friendly and polite - nice welcome and drinks/meal trolley was fairly quick and not a bad choice for the length of flight. Had a coffee and some popcorn and a bottle of water for about £5.
Flight departed 10 mins early and arrived at LGW about 25 mins ahead of schedule.

Gatwick is not a great airport at all but the bags had started arriving on the conveyor belt at the same time I got there so was happy.

Hands down, no question I would not hesitate to book Easyjet in a heartbeat and certainly won't pay for Club Europe again in it's current state.

I have done various sectors on miles and everytime I fly it I see it for what it is - a poor product at prices which flitter between not bad value for the cost compared to economy to frankly outrageous. A recent return CE trip priced at nearly £1100 for a 2 hour flight.

BA are kidding themselves if they think their shorthaul business class product is worth anything near that. It is an atrocious product and cannot survive. Easyjet just got themselves my short haul travel because at least with them you know what you are getting. With BA, as has been discussed many times before, it's just so hit and miss. And at the prices they are charging that simply isn't good enough.
