I'm glad the OP's situation is already resolved, but I wanted to quote this post to emphasize how important it is. During IROPs, airport agents will tell you anything to get you out of their face, including "all flights are booked for 48 hours, give up all hope". The reality is, weather affects inbound as well as outbound flights and there will be many no-shows and mis-connects, often creating space on previously full/overbooked flights at the last moment. If you go home, nobody is going to call you back when space opens up due to mis-connection.
If you really need to get out that day, stay at the airport and keep trying.
