Are you aware that lounge access policies for the Admirals Club are way different than those for the BA lounges? AC access is based on a paid membership or $450/year Citibank credit card or $50 day pass, not elite status or class of travel. (Exceptions such as: Premium class international, five star service, etc.) As far as I know, and I do invite correction, access to the BA lounges are based on elite status and class of travel, not any paid membership.
You're correct that BA lounges are not paid access, you can only get access based on class of service or elite status.

If you've BA Silver you can access the Admirals Club so long as you're flying a OneWorld flight (any cabin, any destination as you're accessing based on your OneWorld elite status) whereas if you have AA Platinum you'll need paid access/credit card access or be flying a OneWorld International flight (excluding Canada, Mexico (except MEX) and Caribbean)
