My point is that people don't know the difference between tickets and PNRs but they do not need to. PNR is simply a synonym for 'booking' and it's booking that matters. And people absolutely know the difference between one booking and two bookings!
But BA still isn't telling the flying public that anything has changed.
I think some posters are seriously underestimating the number of people affected by this change. There are many reasons why passengers can end up withmultiple pnrs / bookings / tickets, whatever. They know that they have always just taken them all to check in and BA have through checked their baggage. They may not have known the "rule" before, they do not know the "rule" now - they will still be booking as they have before, with no knowledge or concern about the need to reclaim and recheck bags.
