But there obviously is a law in Germany that a passport needs to be signed before we allow you in. And Syrian passports - that is what we learnt - cannot be signed after being issued. And anyhow: A gate agent can check, whether a passport is valid under German law. He/she cannot check, what is required under the law of about 220 countries to make an invalid passport valid,
