Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort & Spa, Ocho Rios{JAM} (no longer Honors)
Check In All very quick and professional, but not much detail given to you, about resort etc.Welcome drink and cold towel offered, card taken and passport. Luggage taken to room.Welcomed as Diamond member, booked standard room at $250 a night. Was given upgrade to Saphire Ocean View Room.Dropped off bags and then parked car - no valet parkingArrived by car around 1830, after GPS got me lost! It is actually easy to find and just off the main road. I drove from Kingston on the new T3 highway, much faster then the old A1 road. I would say even quicker than coming from Montego Bay airport. Room They moved me to the Diamond Wing. This is nearest the sea, and was better as further away from the action. Slept well here. Same setup as previous room, but with proper bath. This also came with butler and free drinks in room.It was on my own and not here to party and dont drink, so next night asked if could move.So it was good size room, but noisy. It is right above air-con units, and the nightclub! If you are light sleeper I dont recommend this wing. I had booked a garden room, and although smaller if you are here for peace they are better as far away from all the action.Large balcony and nice view, but issues. Decent coffee maker and free soft drinks. Good selection of TV channels. Wifi poor in this room and in resort in general very patchy, only really best in lobby area.First night was in 2502, end room Saphire Wing, ocean view. Great size, with decent bathroom, but the bath is not really a bath. Service Perfect. Staff are what makes the resort. So friendly and everyone says hi. Great credit to the place. Dining There is coffee shop, staff on beach at all times to bring drinks, and pizza place as well as burger joint.Being all-inclusive you cant really go wrong. Buffet for breakfast/lunch and dinner was excellent with plenty of choice for everyone.Plenty of choice. First night arrived later and off a 9 hour flight. Wanted somewhere quiet to eat, went with Platinum fine dining. It was good service and nice fresh food. Location I would get car if you want to explore. Driving is fine, it is slow but easy. Cars are affordable to hire.No transport from Kingston Airport.Free transport from Montego Bay, I understsand you will be last drop off and first pick up, so bear this in mind. Overall Very good gym, nice beach and plenty to do.At $250 per night, just myself staying, not good value. If 2 of you and you drink, very good value!Staff are what make it for sure.It is a fun place if you want to party, if you want relaxing peace and quiet, it is not really designed for this. You can relax dont get me wrong, but it is a late night type of place. As a new addition to the Hilton portfolio it is decent. I have never stayed at a Curio before so was not sure what to expect.
