I take Bolt Bus from Seattle to Portland or Vancouver BC occasionally. It generally runs smoothly. The customs part was quick and easy on my last trip - show passport, answer a question or two, wait to get back on bus. The bus station in Vancouver BC is a quick Skytrain ride from downtown.
