I used LH.com to pay for a cash upgrade for one LH leg and an exit row on another LH leg. When I tried to upgrade for the codeshare, the system said it couldn't do it. I called my travel agent to reissue the codeshare as LH. After the ticket was reissued, I requested cash plus milage upgrades for the UA legs online.
When I went back into LH.com to cash upgrade the former codeshare, the system errored with "Ticket out of sync" and would not let me access seats at all. LH agents also could not process a cash upgrade, although they could assign seats. The 2 legs which were upgraded went back to standard coach.
Several emails between LH customer service and me didn't help. They told me that because I was on the waitlist for the two UA upgrades, the LH record was locked.
To make a long story short, I just received my credit card bill and was charged for the cash upgrades even though I didn't get them and when I called LH I was told they were non-refundable.
How can they charge me for something that I don't have? Any suggestions for how to resolve this issue?
