I think it's an exercise in frustration to bundle these together. Card issuers do it for marketing purposes, but they are unrelated, outsourced, and the suppliers change periodically. Choose a card based on the features of the card itself.
Figure out what you need in the way of travel booking or concierge services. If the card happens to provide it, great, but otherwise go elsewhere.
You are probably right. But I will say despite all the marketing hype I have seen a noticeable drop off in customer service. I love the points programs and rebates. The free upgrades use to be better now most places look at you like and idiot if you ask for a Platinum upgrade.
I am frustrated and wish I could give my personal business to someone else. I am stuck on the Business card side would take too much to unwind all of that in order to switch.
