Hyatt Zilara - Best All Inclusive Luxury Winter Break In Cancun

Redeeming free nights for an Ocean View Suite on NewYear Immediately afterwards I sent out a polite email to the property manager requesting a completemetary upgrade stating that i was celebrating my anniversary but i didnt recieve any response to that. Still, whats the harm in trying !June 2015. I couldn't find any availability in zilara during chirstmas - new year time online, so i decided to call the Hyatt concierge instead. And not only was he able to find availability (hidden?) but he also made a 5 night booking (Dec 25 - Dec 29, 2015). While looking online, system showed there was a 7 night minimum for cash bookings, and no award availability. Hail the almight concierge ! We used 4 free nights and points for the 5th night.Chase hyatt credit card for me and my wife = 2 x 2 free nights Check In Welcome surprise ! The property manager did infact recieved my email about the upgrade request and she had bumped us to their ocean view king suite (more on that later), and signed us up for a compliementary 'romance package' that included a couples massage and over the top rose petal decorated room. And it really was a surprise..she didn't tell us about any of that during checkin and we found all that when we first stepped into our room.At Zilara, they welcomed us with garlands and drinks in a deadicate diamond elite check in center, where they also put colored bracelets on our wrists which help them distinguish between their all inclusive guests and resort crashers! i guess. A week before my check-in i had recieved a status match to hyatt diamond, thanks to my SPG platinum status.  Room There was also a seperate washroom and shower next to a partitioned area set up as like a dressing room. Despite having 24x7 all inclusive room service, there was also a not so mini bar in the room. Not so mini = 1+ Litre  bottles of wine and taquila amongst 6-8 other liquors.A huge hall for bedroom with a Cal King sized bed on one side, a twin whirlpool shower on other, and a sliding glass wall on another that led to ocean facing balcony. The balcony had a hammock and bistro table-chair set up as well. Spectacular ! Service The only service i didn't find up to the mark - spa. The massages were the only service which were not included and had to be bought seperately ( i did have a free couples massage). But for the $200 a massage the experience was not that great. I have had better massages for less than half the price at my local health club in new hampshire. But then i can get ocean front massages on a carribean blue beach in new hampshire !My favourite ? Well i am partial to the swim up bars and pool side cocktail service. Some of their servers even swam up to me with me drink when i was on the opposite end of the pool from the bar. The servers understand its a all inclusive resort so people don't carry their wallets or change with them, and as such do not expect (or atleast dont show) any tips. But they were so damn good at their job that you would want to tip them, unlike the servers at many american resorts!Twice a day housekeeping and 24x7 room service. Over the top ! Dining And do try the pina coloadas at the asian place, its perfect, and its better than what you get at any other bar on the property. Other restaurants were pretty good too but i found myself returning to the asian place over and over again, the food was just that good! The sea facing pool side semi open bar-kitchen was also a great spot for dinner, specially because this was an adults only resort and we could hear the please sounds of waves crashing loud and clear in absense of any yelling and crying noise you often find around kids. Sorry, but if you have kids you gotta leave them at home or, enjoy hyatt ziva instead which is quite similar except that it welcomes kids. They had 6 different restaurants open at the time, all but one of them required no reservation. The teppenyaki table at the asian restaurant required 24 hour reservation and for good reason. The chef was as skilled a performer as he was a cook. There was fire, knife juggling, flying food landing perfectly onto our dinner plates - the whole shabang. Definatley not your neighbourhood teppenyaki.  Location One more thing... its one of the select few properties in hotel zone that has offers free luxurious cabanason the beach and pool side to all its guests. I fell asleep in one of those overnight, it felt great untill a strong gust of wind landed a pile of beach sand on my face!Cancun, Hotel Zone. Enough said Overall The resort is right across the uber expensive high end hotel zone mall in cancun and about 15 minutes walk from Coco Bongo.  (If you don't know what coco bongo is, you are not planning your cancun trip right!)I have been to JW Marriot and Westin Lagunamar in Cancun as well, but this has been by far the best beach resort i have ever been to. If you can redeem your free nights or points to spend a vacation here that would be amazing, but if not, it is still an incredible value for your money.I will go there again ! Pool Amenities every evening there is some 1 hour special event - flamenco, mariachi, pool foam party, cabaret ........
