If they want things like instagram, skype & youtube, they had better be using someone's wifi, or they are going to get hammered by any of the above plans.
If they are going to use 3g/4g mobile internet, my advice would be to get a Lebara sim on arrival. 3gb (3000+mb) for around €20, with dirt cheap international calls.
