In case it helps, I found Alaska miles to be useful for flying to Europe. I booked a one way home from an Alaska trip with a 4-month stopover at home (DC) in April with Paris as the final destination in August for 20k Alaska miles. SFO to LHR looks to be 20k Alaska miles in April.
