I'm surprised as it seems, by reading this, that security is required when flying in from Europe. One would think European security would be trusted if HKG is.
I'm doing the reverse routing tomorrow.
There is a secret (unpublished) list over origins that Security in DOH regard as secure and no further screening is required. It is known that LHR and CDG, and sometimes mentioned is BKK. There are others and since I have a similar experience transferring from HKG it is probably on that list. The list probably changes frequently to take account of the changing security situation at the origin. It will almost certainly change when particular airports are mentioned as being on the secure list.
That the list is unpublished and its contents secret is one of the security measures that are in place.
