Mrs. Lee's card was a secondary/AU card on my DL Plat Amex account. When I upgraded to Reserve, she remained as a secondary/AU DL Plat card on my (now) DL Reserve Amex account.
I of course received a new DL Reserve card in the mail, with the same card number but new expiration date and CID.
Mrs. Lee never received a new DL Plat card, thus her card number, expiration date, and CID remain the same.
The "Member Since" year on all of our cards (we hold a few non-DL Amex accts as well) is from the 90s and has never changed. We've both had our own Amex accounts in some form or another continuously since then.
This isn't unique to the DL Reserve product. Many Amex products allow you to add AUs with a "lesser" form of the primary cardmember's card. IIRC, Centurion accounts can add Platinum AUs if they desire, and I believe unbranded Platinum accounts can add Green Card AUs if they desire. Adding a lower-level AU card generally costs less but provides fewer benefits to the AU.
