I have a flight that was booked on the 8 Jan 2016 for a 16th November 2016 Departure. and 5th December 2016 return
I changed the dates of the booking to return on the 12th December 2016. The change was made on the 29th April 2016, Where Cathay Pacific issues a new E-Ticket and a New ticket Number.
I called Cathay trying to change the ticket for a departure on the 12th Jan 2017 and a return in Feb 24th 2017 and they said they had an error as the ticket is no longer valid, they told me to call as they needed to get more info on the error. I understand based on the original issue on the 8th of Jan, the new dates are beyond the 1 Year validity.
My understanding is that the validity should be based on the date of the issue, which should be the 29th April as this is the date the old Eticket was changed and a new Ticket number was issued. Further I have seen posts where the validity is based 1 year from the Date of departure.
Can anyone please share some info on this? Many thanks
Even with a fully-flexible ticket the validity of one year from the date of issue (i.e. the outbound leg must be flown within one year of the date of issue) cannot be extended by tricks like making a change. The newly-issued ticket when you make a change will retain the original validity for the first segment, namely "not valid after 7 January 2017".
