Could it be that different airports handle a minor incident in different ways.

What would be considered very minor in Dublin, would be taken more seriously in the overcrowded and much busier Heathrow and the BA pilot was applying this Heathrow level of scrutiny. (Not suggesting that DUB is any less conscientious with safety, it's just how they interpret an "incident").

Also it struck me that it's rather unprofessional for other pilots to weigh in, it's between ATC and the Pilot and ATC seemed more than capable of handling it (what ever the rights and wrongs).
