A booking code (also called "fare class") is less descriptive than the actual fare. A full fare basis might (domestically) look something like
SAA21AKN, while another might be
SAA21TCN. These fares are both "S fares" but are otherwise completely distinct and carry with them an associated set of rules, routings, etc.
So one S fare could be flexible while another is not, although I am very surprised to see a flexible S fare anywhere - I would read the fare rules carefully..
