For starters, I have yet to see a promo rate which is better than the corp rates I can book on line e.g. a 3rd night free offer is invariably at a rate 2x corp rate. Does FPC think we are idiots? Also, all promos seem to involve 1st night guarantees, with no changes permitted. My corp rate offers full flex.
Second, every time I go on to the FPC site, I am invited to complete a survey after the fact about my visit. There are no incentives offered (e.g. discount code for next stay?, extra AP credits?) and FPC has yet to take into consideration the feedback I keep sending them.
Of course, I can always "unsubscribe" from FPC. Have any FTs found a way to make these "promos" work for you?
For those of us who do practically zero travel for work and don't have any corporate rates available to use, yes, this is one FTer who uses FPC promos. Mostly, I use the CAA/AAA rates (since the Amex Selects rates seem to be no more), which are also flexible rates with no pre-payment.
If you have a corporate rate that is half as much as a free night in three (33% discount), then I'm jealous, because the CAA rates that I use seem to range from nothing up to about 25% off, with most in the 15% to 20% range. If the 33%-off promo rates are double your corporate rates, that would suggest your corporate rates are in the range of 66% off of BAR. My wife and I spent $27K with Fairmont last year on our vacations, just on the room rate portion of the bills, so an extra 40% or so off would be a nice chunk of savings.
