I bought an LH ticket, went to the lounge and called to get it refunded. I encountered no problems...
I love it when people who do this are shocked when an airline rep states there's no refund due because purchasing a ticket to access airport facilities with no intention of flying violates the conditions of carriage. Yes, it can happen, so I'd not recommend doing this regularly and being sure to choose the airline wisely.
As to safety and security, I think my friendly advice is "it would be wise to get a grip and calm down". A taxi to the airport is likely riskier.
