We did go back into the terminal during the delay. United Club agents told us they don't do rebooking there (huh?), even though we are members. We are both 1K MM and that meant nothing to the LHR ground staff. GS were being approached individually with options. We had checked luggage and as we got in line at the service desk, a large group of us were told that we should remain on 900 and not try to move over to 949 (the 2:10 PM departure) because of bags. Lots of finger pointing, sending us from club to new gate to service desks to old gate.

Wow, back when I was flying UA a lot internationally, part of the lure of the clubs was the direct and personal service in IRROP type situations. and this is one of their more prominent sites within the network.
