I will become a new parent in days and expect that there will be a fair bit of travel in the first six months. Most of the trips will be relatively short - 2.5 hours, but I do anticipate two transatlantic flights early next year.

Thus far, I have booked one flight (short) with me and my wife occupying seat D and F, in hopes that E remains open and that I can use the baby's car seat as opposed to holding the child in our lap for the duration.

Any other advice or tips to finesse extra space.

On the transatlantics, I expect to be flying on 763's and wonder if the bassinet is worthwhile or if I should again play middle seat lotto in hopes that it is not filled

We have used bassinet a few times. Our son slept very peacefully.
